Gibson Building installed a suspended concrete slab formwork system in a residential project in Agnes Water, Queensland. Gibson Building trialled a new formwork system supplied by Form Direct in Bundaberg. The ‘Proshore Formwork System’ which was erected by Gibson Building is an innovative formwork system out of the USA. The formwork was installed in May 2016, the concrete pour took place in June and the formwork was stripped July.
With only basic instructions Gibson Building mastered the assembly, installation, strip and the back prop system. As it was one of the first uses of ‘Proshore Formwork’ on a residential project in Queensland. With engineers from USA and Melbourne flying in to inspect completed installation of the formwork system it was a significant event. The innovative system brings advantages as it is adaptable system, props remain in place when stripping formwork and labour can be saved in back propping.
The substantial cantilever of 3500mm, in the suspended slab required a 250mm thick slab in 32mpa concrete. The total suspended slab area was approximately 200m2, which equals about 11 truck loads of concrete.
